Question: How much will my new garage cost?
Answer: It is really hard to pin down an exact price. Pricing depends on size, style and what city, town or village you live in. A professional representative will visit you at your home and give you a true, detailed and a honest price. There are no hidden costs.
Question: Is a Building Permit required?
Answer: Yes, a permit is required in all areas. We have a full time staff that is devoted to obtaining all garage permits. We also take care of arranging all garage inspections required from the towns and villages.
Question: How long will the project take?
Answer: The length of the project varies by location. Normally, in the City of Chicago, projects take 2 to 3 weeks to complete. In the suburbs, projects usually take 4 to 8 weeks depending upon the complexity of the project.
Question: Are your garages pre-fab or custom-built?
Answer: All Great Lakes Garage Builders garages are custom-built right on the job site.
Question: Do you install brick garages?
Answer: No. We only construct frame, detached garages.
Question: Does the homeowner need to do anything in preparation for the project?
Answer: No. In most instances, Great Lakes Garage Builders will take care of all permits and building code issues.
Question: Do you build rooms above the garage?
Answer: Yes, we often build two story garages with a floor and staircase.
Question: What are the most basic sizes of garages?
Answer: 1 Car Garage: 14’ X 20’
2 Car Garage: 18’ X 20’
3 Car Garage: 28’ X 22’
4 Car Garage: 36’ X 22’
